A book is a pile of words that tell a story in some way, shape or form. Someone who possesses these traits is J.K. Rowling. In her Harry Potter series, she brings the book to life. She really made the characters life like. She also does a good job in making it interesting and over exaggerates in the topic of wizards. Some people over exaggerate in wizards, making them do mystical quests etc. She made the characters as normal people. A book is to life in words, as life is to words in book.
This analogy means how a book can be life, and how your life can be a book. They both tell a story.
I agree with “A Book is a Place” by Joe Meno’s definition of a book. Our definition is a book that tells a story. But, "Home Word Bound" by Nancy Jo Sales’ is the one I disagree with. She said “Would my life in books have been the same if they had been coming to me via Kindle or iPad? I don't think so. There's something about the physicality of a book, the way it looks and feels and even smells--the notes written in the margins--that makes it a living, breathing companion (who, like yourself, is actually dying). I don't think books will ever disappear for this reason: We need them too much. They remind us that we exist; they show us how we have lived“. This is saying that books will be here forever, but people are reading less, schools aren’t required to read much anymore and bookstores, such as Borders, are closing. Some say it’s because it has to do with people just not reading anymore others may say because of their competition.
A book on a Kindle, iPad, or phone is not the same thing as a hardback book to me. Those to me are not books; books are paper that you hold in front of you. It isn’t some app you download online and read it.
I think there is some “magical” stuff in books. The reason is there are so many kinds and genres of books. Each one is different, some may be scary some may be happy. So each book is a different idea to me
What is a book?
A book is words about a story, life. It can take you on an adventure, journey and a magical quest. Books are mainly in paper, iPad, kindle, nooks are not books to me. They are just technologic devices that pretend to be books. They aren’t as convenient as books; those run on battery books don’t.
